Intra-Operative MRI The Brigham and Women's Hospital is situated beside Harvard Medical School in the Longwood Medical Area. Brigham and Women's has a long history of caring for individuals with pituitary disorders, Neuroendocrinology gained prominence as a subspecialty here with George Thorn, M.D., former Chairman of Medicine, The transsphenoidal approach to pituitary tumors was popularized by Harvey Cushing, M.D., who founded the specialty of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital in the early l900's. Linac radiosurgery and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy were pioneered here in the 1980's, Over the past decade, image-guided neurosugery utilizing our state-of-the-art Intra-operative MRI became a reality, We now offer both traditional and endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery, comprehensive neuroendocrine evaluation, radiotherapy and clinical research trials.
